Prayer Requests, Friday May 18th
Dear Family, Friends and Churches,
Since Tuesday night, our beautiful baby Reuben has been unable to eat (he has had nausea Wednesday and Thursday). Consequently, his overall state, although not critical, is somewhat weak (he also has a slight fever around 38C – 100.4F). Even though the original plan was to go home today, Friday May 18th, if he does not regain his appetite and has continued nausea, Reuben will most likely need to remain in the hospital for an additional 24-48 hours.
Please join us in prayer for a renewal of our cherished baby’s strength. We also pray that he may regain his appetite and that his nausea subside.
Our God is powerful and we have complete faith that He will once again answer His people’s prayer.
Thank you for your support in prayer!
With Faith,
David (Reuben’s uncle), on behalf of Reuben’s family
Reuben and His New Friend, Jazz!!
On the oncology floor of the Montreal Children’s Hospital, they offer numerous services offered to make the time children undergoing chemo have to spend there a little more pleasant.
This is the case with Zootherapy , therapy during which patients spend time with household pets to decrease their stress and minimize the side effects of medical treatment.
We would like to thank Dominique and Bertrand who introduced Reuben to Jazz, a wonderful bichon frise.
*After getting to know him a little bit… (as always, Reuben is extremely observant
)
* Reuben is happy to play with his new friend Jazz!
PS: After 24 hrs of chemo, even though Reuben has lost his appetite, he has not been nauseous at all, and slept very well last night! Thank you for praying!
Chemo, Round 6: We Return to Battle Tuesday, May 15th
Dear Family, Friends and Churches,
Today, Tuesday, May 15, we are beginning the 20th week of Reuben’s Battle against cancer – a battle that began last January.
Since our last update (Saturday, May 5th), Reuben has had 10 days of rest at home – following his recent surgery. These 10 days of recovery were filled with laughter and the “joie de vivre” of a Reuben who was at 200% capacity! Believe us when we say that if you didn’t know better, you would never suspect that our Reuby just had an operation! What an encouragement for us, his parents, to realize that God is truly taking care of our “little”….well, BIG boy who is now 2 years old
.
Other good news we received in the last 10 days is that the pathology results showed that more than 99% of the cells in the tumour (which was completely removed by the surgeon) were dead! In other words, Reuben’s treatment – by the Grace of God – was extremely effective!
So, Reuben returns to Battle today with round #6 of his chemo. He will be hospitalized from Tuesday to Friday. Once again, we would like to share the possible side effects for the various medications he will be administered so that you can partner with us in prayer…
(1) Cyclophosphamide: Nausea and fatigue
(2) Doxorubicin: Temporary or permanent damage to heart muscle; mouth, throat and esophageal sores
(3) Vinscristine: Nerve issues (reversible), that may affect walking and feeling in fingers and toes
Even though our hearts clench at the thought of returning to battle so soon, we have put our faith in God. We firmly believe that the same God who protected Reuben throughout his other treatments will continue to protect him for this, round 6, and until he is completely healed!
With faith that together we will continue to see miracles, and with grateful hearts for each of you who is battling alongside us in prayer,
Reuben’s mommy, daddy and extended family
